Galloway Country Fair 2013

Situated on the policies of striking Drumlanrig Castle, Galloway Country Fair is one of Scotland’s most successful country events.  Attracting exhibitors and visitors from across the country, the Fair will give a taste of the best that Scotland’s countryside has to offer.

The Galloway Country Fair aims to promote the countryside and Scottish suppliers through a wide variety of entertainment, activities and exhibitors.

In 2010 Galloway Country Fair was purchased by Buccleuch Estates and it is now their flagship event.

Entertainment

A superb line-up of top acts and demonstrators from all over the country provide entertainment for all in the Buccleuch Main Arena and Queensberry Heritage Arena.

 A traditional funfair, children’s entertainers and lots of other things to see and do will ensure all of the family have a thoroughly enjoyable day out!

Sporting Village

Shooting

Elite Clays are once again providing the Clay Shooting Competition with prize money of £1,000, sponsored by Roxtons. BASC will be offering tuition on the Coaching Lines and 2D and 3D archery will also be available. Many gunmakers will be present in Gunmaker’s Row ready to assist you with your new purchase for the new season with clothing, footwear and accessories to complete the look. More details on the Clay Competition will be announced soon. NEW FOR THIS YEAR: A Gun Store will be available to avoid having to carry your firearm whilst you enjoy the rest of the show.

Fishing

Nith District Salmon Fishery Board and Borderlines will be some of the main attractions in the Fishing Section. Demonstrations and advice will be offered as well as a have-a-go area, Casting Clinic, Faults and Cures, Fishing for Knowledge and live fish displays!

Scurry

Galloway Gundogs will be running the scurry for all breeds and abilities. No booking necessary. More details to be announced shortly. David Lisett from the Buccleuch Kennels and our very own Chapel Dog Food stand will not be too far away. Hopefully, some puppies will be making a special appearance too!

 

Food Hall

We once again have an excellent offering of produce from the region and beyond.

Choose from artisan breads, locally-produced cheeses, wines, fruit liqueurs, meats, chillies, whisky, pies, deli produce and confectionery.

In the Buccleuch Kitchen you will find top regional chefs from Cook School Scotland and across the county.

As our special guest this year we will be welcoming TV chef and game expert, Mike Robinson to provide demonstrations of game preparation and cookery.

 

Craft Marquee

A vast array of quality handmade items from far and wide. From jewellery to soaps, paintings to handbags, toys to ceramics, you will be spoilt for choice, whether for yourself or as a beautiful gift!

Admission includes access to the wider Estate, Stableyard, Gardens and Adventure Playground.

Entry  Adult £12, Child £5, Family (2 Adults+2 Children) £30, Concessions £10

Take the A76 north from Dumfries for approximately 13 miles, passing through Auldgirth, Closeburn, Thornhill and Carronbridge. The entrance for Drumlanrig and the Country Fair are clearly signposted.

Brownriggs Coaches will once again be operating the popular shuttle bus from Wallace Hall Academy car park to the front of the Castle – buses will run on the hour. More details soon.


Camping Facilities

Camping facilities are available on the Drumlanrig Estate for the duration of the Galloway Country Fair for tents, caravans and motorhomes.  There is a 3-night special offer for £100.
