There are four levels of routes, each varying in distance, gradient and landscape.
GREEN ROUTES
The 'Easy' (Green) routes are suitable for families and novice cyclists with no special skills required and can be found under our Cycling routes.
If you wish to progress to more challenging mountain biking, then follow the Blue, Red or Black routes depending on your own level of competency.
This trail is ideal for mixed ability groups as the route follows the second half of the red route, on forestry road and easier parts of single track sections which involve a fast, sweeping, exhilarating piece of train incorporating numerous 'berms'.
RED ROUTE
7. The Old School
20 km - Grade: Hard
This route is a natural single track featuring technical swooping trail, narrow wooden structures, drop-offs, 'berms' and roots galore.
BLACK ROUTE
8. Magic Eight
8 km - Grade: Severe
The black sections of trail are additional loops of the red route. Testing the best of riders, this trail is unforgiving with very narrow tracks, steep climbs and descents, technically challenging obstacles and terrain.
Leaflets giving full details of all cycling and mountain biking routes, together with maps, can be purchased at the Visitor Centre in the Stableyard.
