Free Family Fishing Days

As part of the Fishing for Knowledge Project, Solway Heritage is co-ordinating a Family Fishing Day both on the River Nith at Thornhill on 6 August and the River Esk at Langholm on 7 August. Click here for details on the River Nith and the River Esk.

Drumlanrig Castle Fishings are renowned for its fishings both on the beautiful River Nith for Salmon and Sea Trout and across seven trout lochs, each known for their serene surroundings and excellent days' sport .

We are now excited to be offering a children's ticket for the first time on both river and lochs. This will be at a flat rate of £10 per day per child. Children are classed as aged 16 and under and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. No rod sharing is permitted and adults who wish to fish alongside, must purchase their own adult permit.

Catch limits are the same as for the adult ticket:

Lochs - the first 2 Trout

River - the first 2 Salmon (including Grilse) and the first 2 Sea Trout

Catch returns (including nil returns) must be returned to the Sporting Office by the end of the fishing day.
