We can arrange for school pupils to watch different rural businesses at work, such as farming and forestry, and also to learn about the integrated land uses within the Estate. A Ranger-led visit can be tailor-made to meet the specific requirements of each school and how it can be integrated within the curriculum.
Ranger-led Activities are suitable for Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools and can be adapted to suit. They can include different aspects from around the Estate: from a tour of the Castle, a variety of walks, demonstrations, a visit to the Adventure Playground and the chance to experience a behind-the-scenes look at the different rural businesses at work.
Walks can include:
Sensational Senses: Using the power of nature to explore our five senses.
Woodland Wander: Learn about trees, from identifying different species and investigating their life cycle and the interdependence of all woodland life.
Creatures of the Deep: Investigate the beasties that live within our ponds, and the unique adaptations they possess.
Woodland Animals: Be detectives within the woodland and discover the animals that live here, from small beasties to the playful Red Squirrels.
A tour of the magnificent 17th Century Drumlanrig Castle, historical home of the Dukes of Buccleuch and Queensberry, promises to stimulate the children's minds, discovering the interesting architecture, historical connections, as well as the beautiful period furniture, treasures and works of art which lie within.
Note:
- All staff carry radios
