A Feast of Falconry

Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate are pleased to welcome Elite Falconry who are renowned throughout Scotland for their skill and expertise. Visitors of all ages will be in awe as they witness breathtaking abilities of birds of prey as they demonstrate their natural flying prowess.
Elite Falconry will be flying into Drumlanrig Castle on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 September to give visitors a spectacular birds of prey display and, to mark the visit, is giving one person the opportunity to get up close and personal with the impressive raptors.
Elite Falconry, famous for their work with some of the Country's biggest and fastest bids of prey, will be presenting interactive displays across the weekend with host activities for all the family to enjoy.
During each day, in each of the demonstrations, one of the birds will be fitted with an electronic altimeter. The raptor will then be released to ride the thermals or winds and gain the best height it can on the day.
Watch carefully, and apply your skill and judgement to guess the greatest height the bird makes for your chance to win tea and scones for two in the Drumlanrig Tearoom.
The person who gets closest across the four demonstrations will win a 'Birds of Prey Experience' for two at Elite Falconry's Centre in Fife. In addition, a selection of bonus prizes may also be up for grabs!
DON'T JUST WATCH A FLYING DEMONSTRATION - BE PART OF IT! In each of the four flying demonstrations across the weekend, the team from Elite Falconry will be inviting you forward to experience one of the birds flying to your gloved hand.
Between the interactive flying demonstrations, there is also the opportunity to take a leisurely and more personal walk around the wonderful Drumlanrig woodlands, where, in a much more natural environment, the team from Elite Falconry will showcase the skills of the trained hawks and explain the art of falconry.
Children can join in during the afternoon on each day where they will have the opportunity to fly one of the wonderful owls.
The fun-packed weekend will be a great day out for all the family.
