Whether you are an adrenalin junky hooked on the thrill of exhilarating mountain biking, a keen walker or nature lover, Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate in the heart of Dumfriesshire has activities aplenty.
From waymarked paths and off road cycle trails to challenging mountain bike tracks, interesting and informative ranger-led walks, wildlife and Landrover Tours, the Visitor Centre and its experienced staff can help you plan a full day’s activities.
The facilities for mountain bikers at Drumlanrig Castle are arguably among the best in Scotland with its many kilometres of scenic routes - from swooping back trails to quiet country back roads.
Kids can’t fail to be thrilled by the Adventure Playground with its exciting woodland slides and climbing frames.
Those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground can expect to spot prolific native wildlife along the Country Park path network from otters and red squirrels to birds of prey. Nature lovers will also be delighted with ‘must see trees’ including the Drumlanrig Sycamore – one of the oldest in the country – and the very first Douglas Fir to be planted in the UK as well as a wealth of wildflowers and fauna.
Farmers’ Market
The ever-popular monthly Farmers' Market at Drumlanrig will open again on Sunday 28th March 2010 and will take place thereafter on the 4th Sunday every month ending on 26th September. A feast of treats on offer and a diary date not to be missed.
Great Biking Trails
Whether you are a would-be champion or cycle for fun, why not try our world-class trails at Drumlanrig. There are several to choose from all at different levels of expertise - a must for any cyclist! Rik's Bike Shed is open 11 - 4 pm, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter period.
