The Castle and Country Estate
The magnificent Drumlanrig Castle, constructed from distinctive pink sandstone, was commissioned in 1691 by William Douglas, the first Duke of Queensberry and represents one of the first and most important Renaissance buildings in the country.
The Country Estate boasts dedicated waymarked paths and woodland trails for wildlife enthusiasts, walkers and mountain bikers of all abilities, while field sports and fishing have long been synonymous with Drumlanrig Castle.
Budding and experienced horticulturists alike will be delighted by the impressive Gardens, extending to 40 acres, while the Stableyard is home to the Castle Shop, Stableyard Studios, Visitor Centre and the Scottish Cycle Museum.
No visit to Drumlanrig Castle would be complete without a trip to the Castle Tearoom, serving home baking using the freshest local produce, freshly brewed tea and coffee, cold drinks, light meals and our very own Estate reared meat and Drumlanrig herbs.
